Subject: Investment Opportunity, Unilever
As a member of the research and development department, my main responsibility is to look at potential companies that align with our company's values. At Anima Mundi Development Partners we prioritize companies that are committed to doing business in a socially responsible, environmentally sustainable, and profitable manner. After doing some research I believe a company that is committed to addressing society’s most pressing needs is Unilever. A Public British multinational fast-moving consumer goods company founded in 1929. Unilever is a B corporation meaning that it meets the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
AMDP’S KEY INVESTMENT STANDARDS
Triple Bottom Line: The 3Ps
People: This includes employees, vendors, and customers. Instead of focusing on investor returns, the triple bottom line wants to create value by encouraging volunteerism of its employees and supporting small businesses.
Planet: When focusing on the planet companies must report their environmental impact. Companies are often forced to choose between a lower-cost option or a more environmentally friendly alternative
Profit: This is more than just how much money a company makes. Companies need to earn profit ethically.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is a way for companies to measure and manage their impact on society. This includes a company's contributions to the economy, environment, and community, both positive and negative.
Social Enterprise
A social enterprise, or social business, is a business designed to achieve specific social objectives as its primary purpose. Social enterprises strive to maximize profits while also maximizing positive impacts on society and the environment.
Carbon Footprint
A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases (like carbon dioxide) emitted by a person, organization, product, or activity, measured in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e), it shows the impact on climate change caused by that entity; to measure it, you need to calculate the emissions from all stages of a product's life cycle, including production, usage, and disposal, using established methodologies and emission factors to convert different greenhouse gases into CO2 equivalents.
